Preventing Genetic Disorders in IVF
For couples traveling from Kazakhstan, finding advanced genetic screening is often a key factor when choosing a clinic. Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) allows us to screen embryos for chromosomal abnormalities before they are transferred back into the uterus. At Pravi IVF, we use state of the art genetic testing to ensure we select healthy embryos, reducing the risk of miscarriage and improving implant success. Our South Delhi clinic is a short drive from Delhi International Airport, offering complete diagnostic care. To see maps and contact details, see our Best IVF Centre in South Extension guide.
How Preimplantation Genetic Testing Works
After fertilizing the eggs in our Class 100 cleanroom lab, we culture embryos to Day 5 (blastocyst stage). Our senior embryologists perform a laser biopsy to extract a few cells from the outer layer of the blastocyst. These cells are sent for genetic sequencing. According to guidelines from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), PGT-A is highly effective for identifying chromosomal variations in older maternal age. We combine this biopsy with our automated Electronic Witness System to track all samples safely.
EEAT and Custom Pathways in Delhi
Dr. Monica and our clinical team provide detailed genetic counseling to help you understand your reports. If we identify chromosomal issues, we select normal blastocysts for transfer. We have posted a detailed video guide explaining PGT technology on our YouTube channel (search "Pravi IVF Preimplantation Genetic Testing") and share patient tips on Instagram (@PraviIVF). For details on our diagnostic scans, see our Female Infertility Treatment guide. Contact us today to learn how genetic screening can support your cycle.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- What is the difference between PGT-A and PGT-M?
PGT-A screens for general chromosomal abnormalities (such as Down Syndrome). PGT-M tests for specific single-gene genetic disorders (such as Thalassemia) present in the parents. - Does the laser biopsy damage the embryo?
No. The biopsy is performed on cells that form the placenta, leaving the inner cell mass that develops into the baby untouched and safe. - Who should consider PGT testing during IVF?
It is highly recommended for women over 35, couples with recurrent miscarriages, or those with a known family history of genetic disorders. - How long does it take to get the genetic reports?
The genetic testing results typically take about 2 to 3 weeks. During this period, the blastocysts are vitrified (frozen) safely in our lab. - Does PGT guarantee a 100% pregnancy rate?
While it significantly improves success rates by ensuring only chromosomally normal embryos are transferred, success also depends on uterine receptivity.
