Managing the two week wait after embryo transfer tips Delhi

The Most Emotional Phase of IVF

The two-week wait (TWW) refers to the period between your embryo transfer and the scheduled blood pregnancy test (Beta hCG). For many couples, this is the most anxious phase of the entire cycle. Understanding what is happening inside your body and how to manage the wait can bring comfort during this quiet time.

What is Happening to the Embryo?

In the first few days after a blastocyst transfer:

  • Days 1-2: The embryo hatches out of its shell and begins to attach to the endometrial lining.
  • Days 3-5: Implantation occurs as the embryo burrows deeper into the lining, connecting with maternal blood vessels.
  • Days 6-9: The cells that will form the placenta begin secreting hCG hormone, which gradually rises in your bloodstream.

Common Symptoms and Tips

You may experience mild cramping, bloating, or light spotting. These are often due to progesterone medications, not necessarily a sign of failure or success. Avoid home urine pregnancy tests, as they can show false negatives early on. Trust the scheduled blood test for accurate results, and keep yourself occupied with light, pleasant activities.
